Araucanas

***Available in Limitied Quantities***

We've had Araucanas on our farm for several years now, and never planned to sell their eggs, as they were always just a fun group of pet birds. However, in the last year or so, we have seen that this group has produced some beautiful babies and their hatch rates have drastically improved.

Araucanas are rare in the United States, likely due to their genetic challenges in breeding. The tufting gene in Araucanas is a lethal gene, and much like frizzles, two tufted birds should not be bred together.

All of our hens are non-tufted and our roosters are double-tufted. Chicks may hatch black, white, or silver duckwing colored. They may also hatch non-tufted, double tufted, or single tufted.  Just to note, our Araucanas tend to lay more of a light green egg than traditional blue.
